Rotary axis workflows¶
Rotary work adds a coordinate conversion and a rotating entanglement hazard. Prove chucking, clearance, direction, and circumference scaling with emission disabled before processing.
Choose the job¶
- Rotary cutting with fiber or CO₂
- Rotary engraving with fiber or CO₂
- Rotary cleaning, quenching, and welding
- Calculate lead and restore the original axes
Rotation changes the safe area
Isolate energy for chucking and configuration changes. Remove the chuck key and all tools. Restrain long stock with suitable supports, keep clothing/hair/hands/cables clear, and never steady a rotating workpiece by hand. For handheld/open-beam modes, apply the full controlled-area requirements as well.
Save before switching¶
Export or photograph the known-good flat-bed axis assignments, direction, origin, lead/pulse settings, travel limits, and process configuration. Name the backup with the machine serial and date. Rotary setup may remap or alter an axis; a saved original avoids guessing when returning to the table.
Universal no-emission proof¶
- Identify the workpiece diameter at the actual processing location; round stock may not be perfectly round.
- Chuck/support it securely and rotate it by hand under isolation to check runout and collision clearance.
- Connect the rotary exactly as documented and select the corresponding configuration.
- Jog slowly to verify direction and that cables/hoses do not wind up.
- Command one known circumference and mark the start/end position without firing where possible.
- Simulate and frame the complete path.
- Run a small low-consequence coupon/area before the real part.
If circumference or orientation is wrong, stop at the coordinate layer. Do not alter speed/power to compensate for geometry.
