¶ mLaser software overview
This is mLaser, not LightBurn. The factory video is a silent UI walkthrough of the Windows build on the USB stick. Watch it with the laser off. Use the parameter file and password that belong to your serial number — a G2 LightBurn answer is useless here.
¶ What the official walkthrough is showing
The factory video spends most of its time in the drawing, layer, and run screens. That matches the written install and cutting manuals:
- Windows only. The USB installer and the online-mode launch are documented as Microsoft Windows; Apple systems are out of scope.
- Copy the USB contents to a local disk, install the listed Visual C++ runtime, then open the main application in online mode using the password printed in your package — not a password copied from a forum or another machine.
- Restore the platform configuration from the XML on that USB (
Start→ parameter recovery → import from file) before chasing connection errors. - After the PC and machine share the dedicated Ethernet cable, mLaser should see the controller. The first homing move is toward the documented origin (front-left on the factory walkthrough). If the gantry drives the wrong way, hit the emergency stop; do not “let it finish.”
- Left-click selects, double-click opens, drag-select frames geometry, right-click on a drawing offers the quick process menu, and the mouse wheel zooms. That is all UI, not process physics.
¶ What to do with that UI on a real job
- Choose fiber or CO₂ mode for the source you actually intend to fire. The two libraries are not interchangeable.
- Open a known drawing from the USB, then import a process row whose material, thickness, nozzle, focus code, and gas letters match the coupon on the table. In the factory library, names such as
SS/ thickness /2.0S/F0/N2|O2|AIRare labels, not a promise that your gas pressure at the head is correct. - Sort small inside features first, then simulate. Simulation does not cut.
- Calibrate the floating head over supported metal, blow-test gas at the nozzle, then frame with the red light on the sheet.
- Stay with the first coupon.
Do not import a random “better” XML from the internet. Do not type service passwords from another serial number. Do not defeat the door switch to watch the first home — the factory video sometimes shows a technician override; that is not an owner troubleshooting step.
